It is important that the stringing material is always smaller than the bead hole, otherwise it will unfortunately not fit. You can find the bead hole size under 'More information' on the product page.
We have listed some examples of stringing material and cord that will work with beads with a 1 mm and 0.8 mm beaded hole.
Beads with a bead hole size of 1 mm:
- elastic thread of 0.8 mm or smaller.
- metal wire of 0.7 mm or smaller
- nylon cord of 0.8 mm or smaller
- waxed cord of 0.5 mm or smaller
- Memory wire of 0.8 mm
- fishing wire of 0,5 mm or smaller
Beads with a bead hole size of 0.8 mm:
- elastic thread of 0.7 mm or smaller.
- metal wire of 0.7 mm or smaller
- nylon cord of 0.5 mm
- waxed cord (polyester) of 0.5 mm
- fishing wire of 0,5 mm or smaller
Please note for nylon and waxed cord. As these cords are flexible and the ends can split, they are less easy to thread compared to elastic thread or metal wire. For this reason the bead hole size can sometimes not be big enough for simple threading. Tip: strengthen the ends of the cord by adding a little bit of jewelry glue to them and smoothing it out with your fingers. You can only start threading once the glue has dried.
Bead file
Is the bead hole size of the bead too small? Then you can use a bead file to carefully enlarge the bead hole.
